Well, you know I’ve become pretty darn attached to a bride when I cry at the wedding…it hadn’t happened in a while, but Jessica was just so happy, sincere and sweet I couldn’t help it! Every time her eyes welled up, mine did too! Jessica and Mike were both so fun to work with! And, Jessica’s mom, Betsy was the icing on the cake. I love it when a mom supports her daughter through the process with utmost sincerity, only wanting to make her daughters wishes come true! It makes for a happy bride, a happy planner and a stunning wedding!
Jessica and Mike were married at Saint John The Baptist in Folsom, where they had a full mass. Father O’Kelley was quite the character and made the ceremony sweet, light and lovely! We lined the aisle with rose petals (which I later crawled on my knees and picked up), had beautiful pew and altar arrangements from Visual Impact that consisted of ivory hydrangeas and the hand made letters J and M, tied with a plum bow adorning the entrance.
The reception followed at the Coloma Country Inn, where the design and decor were much more chic than shabby, but with a very antiquish look. There were chandeliers hanging over the head table and dance floor and we decorated the swing, which has a backdrop of the lake, with Jessica’s wedding colors and flowers. There were decorative elements throughout that really reflected Jessica’s style! I think my favorite piece was the old shutter that I found at an antique store and repurposed for use as a place card holder. It was in sad shape when I found it! So, I painted it ivory, adorned it with some flower details that look like they were carved in wood and added an antique crystal door knob to the top to make it shine! You will see it featured below in the photos by Jessica Moores of Stout Photography…who, by the way knocked my socks off with these LOVELY photos!!!! I hope to work with Jessica again in the future. She really captured the essence and style of this wedding just perfectly!
The night was complete with music from one of my absolute favorite DJ’s, Joe Kalamaras of SJ’s Disc Jockeys. The dance floor was packed all night long! When the groomsmen surprised us with a dance to Beyonce’s Single Ladies, I almost fell on the ground laughing. It was hillarious and very entertaining! At the end of the night, no one wanted to go home! Darn those noise ordinances that shut us down at 10:00!
I wish Jessica and Michael a long and happy life together! Good times, great memories!
