Real Wedding: Jim & Lenora’s Crocker Art Museum Wedding

It’s been exactly one year since this beautiful October day, and although this wedding was featured on the fabulous Style Me Pretty, I recently realized that I have never showcased it here on our own blog. Jim and Lenora’s wedding marked the beginning of a new season, a beautiful marriage and a serious love affair amongst the team who worked together seamlessly to create this perfectly stunning event – one that is too good not to share.

Jim and Lenora came to me with completely open minds in regards to the design of their wedding. The one requirement: a long, dramatic aisle for Lenora to walk down. Fresh off of my trip to Event Solutions and full of inspiration, I presented a few concepts to Jim and Lenora, knowing full well which one we would be executing, as this was the perfect fit for them. We quickly got to work on creating a very clean, classy and monochromatic design for these two self-proclaimed perfectionists.

The ceremony setup was the true focal point of this wedding design. I had envisioned an aisle that curved gracefully towards a stunning altar, with white rose-adorned manzanita trees lining the edges to create that extra element of drama that we were looking to achieve. We then added a swirl design at the front of the aisle to finish off the look. The sounds of the Spanish guitar filled the air for the ceremony and it was nothing short of perfection.

For the cocktail hour, we used sleek white lounge benches, silver strand linens from La Tavola and orchids in modern vessels to create a clean, yet whimsy environment for guests. Guests escort cards were placed on large photo displays of the couple, which we perched on art easels, keeping with the art museum vibe. Guests mingled with the sounds of the Spanish guitar in the background, and then were treated to a Chinese Lion Dance performance before moving inside for dinner service.

Inside, we had a mix of tall and low centerpieces comprised of succulents, callas and orchids placed on tables covered in a sleek silver linen from Mimi & Co.. We used lighting to create an ambient glow and a monogram in the middle of the dance floor. Reception programs were tucked neatly into the guests napkins at each setting and refreshing signature cocktails were served. To honor Jim’s heritage, a Portuguese singer delighted guests with a singing performance during dinner. It was such a true celebration of two people blending their lives and their families. You could feel the warmth throughout the room and the celebration that lasted well into the night was one for the books.

Simply and perfectly put by our friends at Style Me Pretty: “You know Frank Sinatra’s Just The Way You Look Tonight? This wedding has had me humming that song over and over since I first laid eyes on it’s pretty factor. It’s lovely. From the smiles so warm to the cheeks so soft, everything is just lovely. 2Chic Events & Design were the talented team behind the planning and design, and teamed up with True Love Photo, the result is truly musical!
